Incorporated in 1992, GMCS works in conjunction with general contractors, manufacturers and government agencies to supply materials for state and federally funded projects throughout the east coast.

GMCS's early focus was on commercial diving and marine construction. In1996 Yona Jimenez, the daughter of a general contractor/civil engineer, became president of the company. Yona has since shifted the company focus from it's roots in diving and marine construction, developing GMCS into a materials supplier certified to work exclusively on state and federal contracts.

As a materials supplier GMCS has contributed to a variety of projects including: West Midtown Ferry Terminal, Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 90 & 92, Battery Park Tunnel, Garden State Parkway Driscoll Bridge and Newark Historic Broad Street Station.
